Walking the Choctaw Road: Earning by Learning students work with famed historian and storyteller, Tim Tingle
The Annual Reading in the Garden always brings authors and illustrators who challenge us to get out of our comfort zone and look at the most critical issues facing America and the world.
Tim Tingle, featured guest author and storyteller at our 9th Annual Reading in the Garden, captivated the audience with his history, passion, and stories of a brave and powerful Choctaw Nation. Prior to the event each student receives their own Walking the Choctaw Road and spends hours after school sharing their thoughts and questions with their campus EBL coordinator.
On the event day, the students engage in an interactive novel study with Tim Tingle. This interactive novel study is filled with wonder, thoughtful reflections, and just a bit of rewriting history. Following the study, children are treated to music, food, book signing and a stroll through the botanical gardens. The Reading in the Garden is open to the public. There is an entry and parking fee.
The Reading in the Garden is open to the public. National historian, storyteller, and author, Tim Tingle, will be our featured guest author on Monday, May 11, 2009 hosted by the Dallas Arboretum. Featured book will be "Waling the Choctaw Road."
